Bovine smuggling bid foiled in J-K, 33 animals rescued

RAMBAN, Mar 13: Two bovine smugglers were arrested Friday as police foiled attempts of cattle smuggling and rescued 33 animals in Ramban district, police said.
SSP Ramban Haseeb ur Rehman told media persons that during the intervening night of march 12 and 13, Police intercepted two trucks bearing registration numbers NL01AE-2877 and JK18B-7070 loaded with 21 and 12 bovine animals respectively.
Driver of the trucks identified as Ricky Baro, son of Malik Baro, resident of Khanpora, Tehsil and District Ghawati Assam and Muzaffer Amin, son of Mohd Amin, resident of Lasso, Tehsil Dhamal, District Kulgam.
“The bovine loaded trucks were on way from Jammu to Kashmir and these bovine animals were being transported without any permission, SSP said adding that all the 33 animals were rescued.
He said case FIR no 13/2020 & FIR no 14/2020 u/s 188 IPC & 11 PCA Act have been registered at Police Station Chanderkot and further investigation is on.
Police teams from Police Station Chanderkote led by Insp Nazir Ahmed under the supervision of Sanjay Parihar Additional SP Ramban and overall supervision of Haseebur Rehman SSP Ramban made the arrests and rescued the animals.
