Anxiety, depression on rise in Jammu: Expert

JAMMU, Mar 31 (Agencies): Psychological disorders like sense of insecurity, reactive depression, anxiety attacks and sleeplessness have suddenly increased among people due to pandemic coronavirus in Jammu.
Even as the authorities claim to have made stringent arrangements to fight coronavirus, many people amid countrywide lockdown in Jammu have suddenly developed “reactive depression” and other psychological disorders.
“There is a sharp rise in such cases where healthy middle aged people are complaining of not being able to breathe properly, or feeling ‘chocking sensation’ in throats, sleeplessness, anxiety, and worried about financial insecurity,” said psychiatric Dr Jagdish Thappa.
Dr Thappa claimed that he was getting number of complaints about these psychological problems.
“Stress has led to depression and anxiety. People are anxious. It is like epidemic of anxiety among people.”
