THANNAMANDI, May 13: Department of Computer Applications and the Department of Physics in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council and the R&D Cell of Govt. Degree College Thannamandi celebrated National Technology Day with great enthusiasm here.
On this occasion an impressive programme organized under the guidance and support of the Dr. Nazakat Hussain, Officiating Principal of College who encouraged students to continuously update themselves with new technological tools and research trends to enhance their knowledge and skills.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Supriya Gupta, HoD Department of Computer. Applications who highlighted the significance of technological advancement and innovation in the present era. She encouraged students to cultivate scientific temper and remain actively engaged with emerging technologies for academic and professional growth.
Dr. Mohd Ashaq, Vice President IIC, delivered an insightful lecture on the history and importance of National Technology Day and explained the relevance of celebrating the day in India. He elaborated on the contributions of Indian scientists and technological achievements that have strengthened the nation over the years.
He also acquainted students with recent advancements in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cyber security, Robotics, Quantum Computing, and modern communication technologies.
He motivated students to use technology creatively and responsibly for the betterment of society and nation-building.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members. Students actively interacted during the session and shared their views on the growing role of technology in education, research, healthcare, communication, and everyday life. The event also created awareness regarding innovation, entrepreneurship, and the importance of staying updated with the latest technological developments.
Dr. Meenakshi Sharma, Convener IIC and HoD Department of Physics conducted proceedings of the programme and presented formal vote of thanks. She emphasized that technology plays a crucial role in making a nation strong and self-reliant. She added that future global challenges and wars would largely be technology-driven, making it essential for students to remain aware of modern developments in fields such as AI, Cyber security, Data Science, and advanced computing.
The students also expressed their commitment to remain connected with modern technologies and use them positively for learning, innovation, and national development. The programme concluded with a message to promote scientific awareness, innovation, and responsible use of technology among the youth.
