JAMMU / YOL, Jun 28: The 78-day Yajna dedicated to the recitation and propagation of all four Vedas concluded with the sacred Purnahuti ceremony at Ved Mandir, Yol, Himachal Pradesh, on Sunday. On the auspicious occasion, renowned Vedic scholar and Yogacharya Swami Ram Swarup Ji delivered a profound discourse highlighting the timeless relevance of Vedic knowledge in nation-building and cultural resurgence.
Addressing devotees and seekers from across India and abroad, Swami Ram Swarup Ji said that the four Vedas, six Shastras, eleven Upanishads, the Valmiki Ramayana, the Mahabharata, the authentic Manusmriti, and other scriptures composed by ancient Rishis constitute the foundation of India’s rich cultural heritage. He observed that India gradually lost its stature as the Vishwa Guru and the “Golden Bird” after moving away from these sacred texts and their teachings.
He emphasised that if the nation wishes to regain its glorious past and moral strength, it is essential to revive the study, contemplation, and teaching of these ancient scriptures in educational institutions. Swami Ji said that rulers and governments should actively promote Vedic education so that society is guided by truth, righteousness, and wisdom.
Quoting the Vedic mantras, Swami Ram Swarup Ji explained that an ideal ruler should be learned, self-disciplined, religious, devoted to the welfare of the people, and committed to ensuring justice for all. He said a ruler should never indulge in false or harsh speech, nor should he oppress the people like an angry venomous serpent. Instead, the administration must ensure that no offender escapes punishment while no innocent person suffers injustice. The concluding ceremony witnessed the participation of a large number of devotees and seekers from India and abroad, who offered sacred oblations into the yajna fire while Vedic mantras were chanted, creating an atmosphere of spiritual devotion and divine harmony.
On the occasion, Rajiv Jasrotia, MLA and former Forest Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, formally released Swami Ram Swarup Ji’s latest book, “Protect the Holy Cow Say the Vedas.” The dignitaries described the publication as an important contribution towards spreading awareness about Vedic teachings on cow protection and preserving India’s spiritual and cultural heritage. The programme concluded with prayers for universal peace, prosperity, and the welfare of humanity, reaffirming the enduring relevance of Vedic knowledge in contemporary society.
