Bali Bhagat demands probe into backdoor appointments, seeks recruitment through JKPSC & JKSSB

JAMMU, Jun 27: Senior BJP leader and former minister Bali Bhagat launched a scathing attack on the Omar Abdullah-led National Conference government, describing it as a “fraud government” that has deceived the people of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly the unemployed youth, by reneging on its promises of transparent governance and employment.

In a strongly-worded statement, Bhagat alleged that while the NC sought votes by promising jobs, fairness and accountability, its actions in government have exposed what he termed as a complete betrayal of public trust.

“This is nothing short of a fraud government. The National Conference promised employment and transparent recruitment before elections, but after assuming office, it has only delivered confusion, controversies and outsourcing. The dreams of thousands of unemployed youth have been shattered,” Bhagat said.

The senior BJP leader said the controversy over alleged backdoor appointments and the government’s increasing dependence on outsourcing has severely eroded public confidence.

“The Omar Abdullah government has failed to explain why deserving candidates are still waiting for regular recruitment while outsourcing has become the preferred route. Every government job must be filled strictly through transparent and merit-based recruitment conducted by constitutional agencies. There should be absolutely no room for favouritism or backdoor entries,” he asserted.

Bhagat accused the NC government of abandoning merit and creating uncertainty among educated youth who have spent years preparing for competitive examinations.

“The youth of Jammu and Kashmir do not need hollow promises or publicity. They need jobs based on merit. Instead, this government has pushed them into despair by failing to initiate large-scale regular recruitment and by allowing controversies over appointments to dominate public discourse,” he said.

Calling unemployment one of the biggest challenges facing the Union Territory, Bhagat demanded that the government immediately release a comprehensive recruitment calendar, disclose all details relating to outsourced engagements, fill all vacant government posts through the JKPSC and JKSSB, and ensure complete transparency in every recruitment process.

“The people were promised a government of honesty and accountability. Instead, they have received a government that has betrayed its mandate. This fraud government has lost the confidence of the youth, employees and common people alike,” he said.

Bhagat reiterated that the Bharatiya Janata Party would continue to raise the issue both inside and outside public forums until every eligible youth receives equal opportunity through a transparent, constitutional and merit-based recruitment system.

“The BJP will not allow the future of Jammu and Kashmir’s youth to be compromised. We will continue to expose every anti-youth decision of this government and fight for fair, transparent and regular recruitment,” he added.
