JAMMU, Jun 23: To commemorate International Olympic Day, the Jammu & Kashmir Olympic Association (J&KOA) organized the International Olympic Day Run 2026 in Jammu on 23rd June 2026. The event was conducted under the banner of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which promotes the Olympic values of excellence, friendship, and respect across the globe.
The run was flagged off from Manda Chowk by MLA East Constituency, Yudhvir Sethi, in the presence of JKOA President Dushyant Sharma, Honorary General Secretary Ajay Vaid, Rajesh Dutta, office bearers of the Association, representatives of affiliated sports associations, and distinguished guests.
A large number of students, athletes, sports enthusiasts, and members of various sports associations participated in the run. The route passed through Amphalla, Raj Yog Brahmakumari Sansthan, Rehari Chungi, Shakuntla Theatre, Bus Stand, and Jewel Chowk, before culminating at M.A. Stadium, Jammu.
The event highlighted the importance of physical fitness, healthy living, and the message of “Nasha Mukt Bharat.” Participants displayed great enthusiasm and commitment towards the Olympic spirit throughout the run.
Special arrangements, including cold drinking water, glucose, refreshments, ambulance services, traffic regulation, and medical assistance, were made to ensure the smooth conduct of the event. A warm reception was accorded to the runners at Raj Yog Brahma Kumari Sansthan, where volunteers welcomed and encouraged the participants.
Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries emphasized the importance of sports in building a healthy and disciplined society and encouraged youth to actively participate in sporting activities.
The event concluded successfully with a vote of thanks to all participants, volunteers, media representatives, health department officials, traffic police personnel, and supporting organizations for their valuable contribution in making the International Olympic Day Run 2026 a grand success.
The event was organized under the guidance of J&KOA Chairman Prof. Ashutosh Sharma. The Association expressed its special gratitude to Rajesh Dutta Body Building Association of J&K, Bupinder Singh his team for their dedicated efforts and meticulous arrangements, which played a significant role in the smooth and successful conduct of the International Olympic Day Run 2026.
