Betrayal of mandate will not be forgiven: Sahni
JAMMU, Jun 19: Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), Jammu and Kashmir unit, on Friday celebrated the party’s Foundation Day by paying rich tributes to its founder Balasaheb Thackeray and reaffirming its commitment to carrying forward his vision of public service and people-centric governance.
Addressing party workers at the party’s central office in Jammu, J&K Shiv Sena chief Manish Sahni said that Balasaheb Thackeray established Shiv Sena not merely as a political organisation but as a mass movement dedicated to protecting the rights, dignity and aspirations of the people. He said Balasaheb’s fearless leadership and unwavering commitment to public causes continue to inspire Shiv Sainiks across the country.
Sahni said the party is entering its glorious 60th year, while the year also marks the birth centenary of Balasaheb Thackeray, making the occasion especially significant for party workers and supporters.
On the occasion, Shiv Sena launched the “Jammu Yoddha” campaign, which Sahni described as a people’s movement aimed at safeguarding Jammu’s identity, dignity, trade, employment opportunities and local rights.
He said the campaign would identify and honour individuals who have made outstanding contributions in education, culture, sports, social service, industry, environmental conservation and nation-building. Such individuals, he said, would be recognised as “Jammu Yoddhas” for their exemplary service to society.
Highlighting the economic challenges faced by the region, Sahni expressed concern over the difficulties confronting local businesses, the hospitality industry, transport operators and thousands of families dependent on these sectors. He stressed the need for collective efforts to protect Jammu’s economic interests, create local employment opportunities and ensure balanced regional development.
“Shiv Sena supports development that is inclusive and equitable. Development must benefit all regions while preserving Jammu’s historical identity, commercial importance and opportunities for local youth,” he said.
Calling upon the people to join the campaign, Sahni said, “Jammu’s Dignity, Jammu’s Rights — Our Responsibility” is not merely a slogan but a commitment towards building a stronger, prosperous and self-reliant Jammu. He expressed confidence that the Jammu Yoddha campaign would emerge as a powerful platform for public participation and strengthen efforts to protect regional interests and pride.
Reacting to the stand taken by certain party MPs, Manish Sahni said that people would never forgive those who betray the public mandate. He termed such actions a betrayal not only of the party leadership but also of the millions of voters who elected them to raise their voice against what he described as anti-people policies.
Sahni said those who had abandoned their ideology and the sentiments of party workers to stand with those in power should remember that the public is closely watching political developments. He asserted that voters would ultimately deliver their verdict through the democratic power of the ballot.
