REASI, Jun 15: Former Vice Chairperson of the District Development Council (DDC) Reasi, Adv. Sajra Qadir, has expressed deep concern over the devastating fire incident that occurred in Paghialla, Gulabgarh, causing extensive damage to shops, public transport vehicles, and private vehicles.
In a statement issued today, Adv. Sajra Qadir said that the incident has caused severe hardship to local residents, particularly small traders and shopkeepers whose livelihoods have been adversely affected. She noted with concern that a similar fire incident had taken place in the area last year and that many of the affected families are still awaiting adequate compensation and rehabilitation.
Adv. Qadir urged the District Administration Reasi to constitute a high-level inquiry committee to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident. She stated that the recurrence of such a major fire within a short span of time warrants a detailed examination so that the exact circumstances surrounding the incident can be ascertained and appropriate accountability ensured.
She further appealed to the administration to provide immediate relief and financial assistance to the affected shopkeepers, vehicle owners, and families who have suffered substantial losses. Timely support, she said, is essential to help the victims rebuild their businesses and restore normalcy in their lives.
Highlighting the need for preventive measures, Adv. Sajra Qadir also called for the installation of CCTV cameras in local markets and other vulnerable public places across the district. She said that surveillance infrastructure would strengthen security, aid investigations, deter unlawful activities, and help authorities respond more effectively in emergency situations.
Adv. Qadir emphasized that the people of Gulabgarh and adjoining areas deserve transparency, accountability, and prompt action from the concerned authorities. She expressed hope that the administration would take all necessary measures to ensure justice for the affected families and prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future.
