JAMMU, Feb 27: Freedom Fighters Memorial Association (FFMA) J&K paid tributes to the freedom fighter Chander Shekhar Azad, on his martyrdom day at Maheshpura Chowk here today.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman FFMA, Rajiv Mahajan recited Azad’s famous proclamation, ‘Dushman Ki Goliyon Ka Saamna Hum Karenge, Azad Hi Rahe Hain, Aur Azad Hi Rahenge’.
“Chandrashekhar Azad was born in a small Madhya Pradesh village of Bhavra in Jhabua district on July 23, 1906. He was just 15 when he was terribly moved by the Britishers killing thousands of innocent Indians at Jhalianwala Bagh in Punjab. That was when he decided to join India’s independence movement,” Rajiv Mahajan said.
He added, “Azad shook the British empire when he was just 16 by revealing his name as ‘Azad’, his father’s name ‘Swatantrata’ and his residence as the prison cell.”
Mahajan further said that Azad’s passion for freedom inspired many youth.
Mahajan said that Shaheed Chander Shekhar Azad fought and jerked the base of the British rule in India with his dedication and sacrifice.
He was jailed several times for his protests against the British.
“His patriotism & valour remains an inspiration.The nation remains forever indebted to his supreme sacrifice,” Mahajan said.
Others present on the occasion were Ved Gandotra (Chief Patron), R.C Puri (Vice Chairman), Karnail Chand (Working President), Kamal Sharma, Parbhat Kaphi and others.
