JAMMU, Sep 6 (Agencies): In a big development, the Pakistan Army on Tuesday, September 6, violated the ceasefire along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir. News agency reported officials as saying that the Pakistani troops opened unprovoked firing on soldiers of the paramilitary Border Security Force.
While we are unable to confirm this as of now, this could be the first ceasefire violation by Pakistan since February 2021 when the two neighbours reaffirmed strict observance of all “agreements, understandings and cease firing along the Line of Control and all other sectors”. That reaffirmation was the first time since the ceasefire agreement of 2003 that both countries decided to adhere to the ceasefire.
The Indian Army had said earlier this year that the ceasefire had been holding since February 25, 2021 and not a single exchange of fire took place between the two armies till February this year.
