Govt for installing low-quality Smart Meters
Flays Govt for imposing Property tax, Dog tax, Toll taxes
JAMMU, May 26: Shri Ram Sena (SRS) Jammu and Kashmir have slammed the J&K Govt for installing low-quality Smart Meters in the city of Temples, resulting in burning of these meters and disconnection of power supply in the affected area. In a statement here today, Rajiv Mahajan, PresidentShri Ram Sena J&K said that there are reports of burning of Smart Meters from several parts of the city. He said that people are facing immense difficulties due to the incidents of burning of smart meters and the consequential disruption of electricity amid the scorching summer heat. He said that children and the aged people are facing the brunt in these areas for which the UT Administration is squarely responsible. Mahajan demanded that Lt Governor should immediately hold a probe into the burning of low-quality smart Meters installed in Jammu City and its peripheries. Meanwhile, Mahajanalso raised serious concern over the opening of liquor shops across the City of temples to increase the revenue. He said that since Jammu is considered a City of Temple therefore the Govt should immediately shift all the liquor and meat shops to the outskirts of Jammu city or any one corner of the city. He recalled that in the 1980s all the meat shops were established at one place in the Moti Bazaararea of Jammu city and resorting to a similar move, the Govt should immediately shift all the liquor and meat shops from Jammu city. Rajiv Mahajan also condemned the move of Govt to impose a property tax, dog tax, and toll taxes in the Jammu region despite the fact that BJP President Ravinder Raina himself once committed that there would be no toll plazas in UT now and as of today, BJP is shying to take up this serious issue with the Centre. He said that as a result of the aforesaid circumstances the Toll tax has doubled since J&K was converted into a Union Territory.
