JAMMU, Nov 6: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Crime Branch Jammu, has filed a chargesheet against a husband-wife duo in an alleged property fraud case involving Rs 3.55 crore, officials said on Friday.
The accused have been identified as Pieary Lal Koul and his wife Nirmala Koul, residents of Sainik Colony, Jammu. The case was registered following a complaint lodged by Dr. Ajay Wakhloo, Director of Ankur Maitrika Hospital.
According to the complaint, the accused had agreed to sell a residential plot along with a constructed house in Sainik Colony for ₹3.55 crore. An agreement to sell was executed on February 21, 2025. However, the complainant alleged that the property was already mortgaged with J&K Bank against outstanding loan liabilities, a fact allegedly concealed by the accused.
Investigation conducted under the supervision of DySP Vishal Sharma established that approximately Rs 3.55 crore had been transferred by the complainant through bank transactions, cheques and cash in connection with the deal and to facilitate clearance of the mortgage.
A Crime Branch official said, “During the investigation, oral, documentary and financial evidence was collected, which substantiated the allegations. Accordingly, a chargesheet has been filed before the competent court under Sections 318 and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for judicial determination.”
Meanwhile, SSP Crime Branch EOW Jammu urged people to remain vigilant against property-related financial frauds and report such cases at sspcrimejmu@jkpolice.gov.in or 0191-2578901.
