KISHTWAR, Oct 31: Care for You, a non-governmental organisation working towards women’s empowerment, skill development and sustainable livelihood promotion, organised a felicitation ceremony to mark the successful completion of a nine-day capacity-building programme under the Usha Silai School Initiative at the Community Facilitation Centre (CFC) Building near Nikepura, Mughal Maidan, Kishtwar.

District Social Welfare Officer Kishtwar, Tariq Parvez Qazi, attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest, while Imtayaz Ahmad, Founder President of Asraria Institute of Technical Education, was the Guest of Honour. Panchayat representatives, the Block President of Mughal Maidan, local dignitaries and community members were also present.

Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries appreciated the efforts of Care For You NGO and the Usha Silai School Initiative in creating opportunities for women’s skill development and self-employment, particularly among women belonging to remote, rural and economically disadvantaged communities. They emphasised that vocational training plays an important role in promoting financial independence and strengthening women’s participation in economic activities.

The nine-day programme, conducted from October 23 to 31, provided practical training to participating women in sewing, tailoring and entrepreneurship. The initiative aimed to equip them with essential skills to explore income-generating opportunities, establish small-scale ventures and become financially self-reliant.

The speakers highlighted the importance of such grassroots initiatives in addressing livelihood challenges in remote and hilly areas, where access to vocational training and employment opportunities often remains limited.

Touseef Malik, Founder of Care for You NGO, expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, Panchayat representatives and other dignitaries for their presence and encouragement. He reiterated the organisation’s commitment to empowering women through vocational education, entrepreneurship development and community-based livelihood programmes.

During the ceremony, the women participants were felicitated for their dedication, active participation and successful completion of the training programme. The recognition aimed to encourage them to utilise their newly acquired skills and pursue opportunities for self-employment.

The programme concluded with a collective commitment to strengthening women’s economic empowerment, promoting grassroots entrepreneurship and expanding sustainable livelihood opportunities across the remote and hilly regions of Kishtwar district.
