IGNOU launches ‘OAMS’ Portal to Digitise Assignment Submissions; Deadline fixed to Nov 20

JAMMU, Oct 28: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has officially launched the Online Assignment Management System (OAMS), a dedicated digital platform designed to modernise and streamline the assignment submission and evaluation process for students nationwide.

In conjunction with the launch of OAMS, the university has extended the assignment submission deadline for the upcoming December 2026 Term-End Examinations (TEE) to November 20, 2026.

Students can now upload their assignments directly by logging into their existing dashboards on the official IGNOU Samarth Portal (samarth.edu.in), eliminating the need for scattered regional links or Google Forms.

The system is operational for all students enrolled across both Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and Online (OL) programmes.

The university clarified that students who have already submitted physical copies of their handwritten assignments to their respective Study Centres or Regional Centres do not need to re-submit them online.

To use the new system, students must log into the Samarth portal, scan their handwritten assignments along with the standard cover page into a single PDF per course, and upload them under the designated OAMS section.

Alongside OAMS, IGNOU has also operationalised the Online Project Management System (OPMS) for project reports and dissertations, which remains open until November 30, 2026.

Dr. Asha Upadhyay Regional Director, termed this initiative a welcome relief for students nationwide, effectively removing geographical barriers and scattered regional links in the form of a single, secure gateway.
