KISHTWAR, Oct 28: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference senior leader and Chenab Valley regional spokesperson Ajeet Bhagat has criticised Max Infra Private Limited, the agency executing the second phase of the Dul Hasti Hydroelectric Project, over its alleged recruitment practices, demanding priority employment for qualified local youth.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Bhagat alleged that the company was recruiting workers from different parts of the country while overlooking skilled and unemployed youth from Kishtwar district. He claimed that personnel for positions such as electricians, fitters, drivers and plant operators had been brought in from outside Jammu and Kashmir.

Bhagat said Kishtwar has a considerable pool of skilled and qualified young people capable of performing these jobs. He described the alleged recruitment approach as unfair to local job seekers, who continue to face unemployment despite possessing the necessary skills and qualifications.

He urged Max Infra Private Limited to reconsider its recruitment policy and provide greater employment opportunities to eligible local candidates. He stressed that development projects in the region should also benefit the local population by creating livelihood opportunities.

Bhagat further appealed to the youth of Kishtwar to unite and raise their concerns peacefully and democratically.

He maintained that local employment should receive due consideration in major projects operating in the district. The allegations against the company were made by Bhagat; an independent response from Max Infra was not included in the statement provided.
