JAMMU, Oct 28: The Placement and Career Counselling Cell of Govt. SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu, in collaboration with The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) Jammu Chapter, organised an insightful career counselling event on the theme “Career as Company’s Secretary” here on Wednesday.
The programme drew a large number of enthusiastic students eager to explore professional avenues in the corporate governance sector. The inaugural session was graced by Prof (Dr) Sunil Gupta, Principal of the college, who presided over the function as the Chief Guest, while Sudip Kumar Mishra, Chapter In-charge of the ICSI Jammu Chapter, attended as the Guest of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Sunil Gupta emphasised the immense scope, growing importance and lucrative prospects of pursuing a career as a Company Secretary in today’s dynamic corporate landscape. He advised the students to avail of career opportunities presented to them as part of their college ecosystem.
To cater effectively to the diverse academic interests of the student body, the event was meticulously split into two parallel sessions. Session 1 was conducted specially for B.Com and M.Com students at the Auditorium in the Main Campus, whereas Session 2 was hosted for BCA and BBA students at the Conference Hall located in the Old University Campus.
Expert insights and practical guidance were delivered during the proceedings by distinguished resource persons, CS Shivani Gupta and CS Seema Sehgal, both of whom are accomplished Practicing Company Secretaries.
They interacted closely with the attendees, shedding light on the examination structure, professional training requirements and the vital role played by Company Secretaries in corporate management.
Sudip Mishra briefed the students regarding the institute’s academic roadmap for students for pursuing a career in the field of Company Secretaries.
The event concluded on an inspiring note aligned with its core motto—”Shape Your Future… Learn, Grow, Build Your Career”—leaving participants well-informed about charting a successful professional path ahead.
Both the sessions were coordinated by Dr. Ashu Manhas, Convener, Placement Committee, while the parallel session in BBA Campus was managed by Dr. Jasvinder Singh, Prof. Anwar-Ul Haq, and Prof. Suresh Sharma Sadhotra.
The programme was compered by Dr Fayza, while technical support was provided by Prof. Shaji Khan. Vote of Thanks was presented by Dr. Jagmeet Kaur. The arrangements for the event were managed by Prof. Binny Kumar and Dr. Roomi Rani.
