JAMMU, Oct 27: BJP activists and supporters on Tuesday gathered at Patta Bohri in Jammu to express their strong resentment over the alleged remarks made by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge against the father of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding an immediate apology.
The gathering witnessed BJP activists voicing their displeasure over what they described as objectionable and disrespectful language against the Prime Minister’s family. They maintained that political differences should not lead to personal attacks and stressed the need to uphold dignity and decorum in public discourse.
A spokesperson for the gathering condemned Kharge’s alleged remarks, stating that such language was unacceptable in a democratic society. The spokesperson demanded that the Congress president apologise for his statement and exercise greater restraint while making public comments about political opponents and their families.
Prominent leaders present on the occasion included R.L. Kaith, Kulbhushan Kumar Sharma, Kimti Lal Jain, Vijay Singh, Madan Lal Mahajan, Naresh Gupta and Krishan Lal, among others. They collectively expressed concern over what they termed a decline in civility in political discourse.
The BJP activists asserted that public representatives and senior political leaders have a responsibility to maintain respectful communication, particularly when addressing sensitive personal matters. The participants also emphasised that respect for constitutional institutions and the dignity of public office holders should remain central to democratic engagement. They called upon political parties to ensure that their leaders exercise responsibility and restraint in public statements.
The gathering concluded with a unanimous resolution condemning the alleged remarks and reiterating the participants’ commitment to upholding respect, dignity and decorum in public life.
The BJP activists reiterated their demand for an apology from Kharge, stating that responsible political communication was essential for maintaining public trust and strengthening democratic values.
