KATRA, Oct 3: Vikalp at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) organized an awareness workshop on the topic “Good Touch – Bad Touch” for its students.
The workshop was conducted at LT1, with the objective of helping students understand the difference between appropriate and inappropriate forms of physical touch and encouraging them to be aware of personal safety and boundaries.
The workshop was conducted in the presence of Vikalp’s Faculty Coordinator, Sumanta Sarathi Sharma, whose guidance and support contributed to the smooth organization of the session.
The workshop was attended by 50 students and supported by 39 Vikalp volunteers, who helped coordinate and facilitate the session. The workshop was delivered by Hiteshi Taggar, PhD Scholar, School of Language and Literature, who guided the students through the topic in an age-appropriate and interactive manner.
During the session, students were introduced to the concept of good touch and bad touch and were encouraged to understand the importance of personal boundaries. The workshop focused on helping students recognize situations that may make them uncomfortable and understand that they have the right to speak up when they feel unsafe or uncomfortable.
Hiteshi Taggar also encouraged students to communicate openly with trusted adults whenever they encounter a situation that makes them uncomfortable or concerned. The session emphasized the importance of awareness, communication, and seeking help when necessary.
The Vikalp volunteers actively assisted throughout the workshop, ensuring smooth coordination and encouraging students to participate in the discussion. Their involvement helped create a comfortable environment in which students could listen, interact, and ask questions related to the topic.
The workshop concluded with positive participation from the students. The session provided an important opportunity for students to learn about personal safety, understand boundaries, and develop greater awareness of situations that may require them to seek help.
Through workshops such as “Good Touch – Bad Touch,” Vikalp continues to focus not only on the academic development of students but also on their personal awareness, confidence, safety, and overall development.
Prof. Pragati Kumar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SMVDU, praised the efforts of Vikalp in bringing a positive change in the lives of destitute children.
