Chenab Valley people deserve accountability and real development, says Ajeet Bhagat

KISHTWAR, Oct 3: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference senior leader and Chenab Valley Region spokesperson Ajeet Bhagat said that the people of the Chenab Valley continue to face serious difficulties and require concrete development measures, accountability and improved public services.

Bhagat said the region is facing problems related to healthcare, roads, drainage, electricity, drinking water and education. He also alleged that corruption and mismanagement in government offices have further added to the difficulties faced by the people. According to him, these issues have a direct impact on the daily lives of residents across the Chenab Valley.

The National Conference leader alleged that for the past 12 years, political discourse in the region has often focused on issues other than the basic problems confronting the public. He said that despite political leaders holding important positions and claiming access to decision-making circles, people continue to face deficiencies in essential public services.

Bhagat said that the people of the Chenab Valley now expect accountability, practical measures and visible development rather than slogans, accusations and political rhetoric. He stressed the need for serious and sustained efforts to address problems related to infrastructure and public services.

The senior National Conference leader also referred to statements by BJP Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, who, according to Bhagat, has repeatedly claimed to have direct access to the corridors of power in Delhi. Bhagat said that such claims had raised expectations among people that major development projects would be secured for the Chenab Valley.

He, however, alleged that despite such claims, the people are still waiting for major projects that would bring substantial improvements to the region. Bhagat said that political speeches and statements have their place, but the situation on the ground remains focused on the need for better healthcare, roads, drainage, electricity, water supply and education.

Bhagat maintained that addressing these concerns requires scientific planning, transparent governance and sustained development efforts. He said that the people of the Chenab Valley should be provided with tangible improvements in basic infrastructure and public services rather than being limited to political assurances.
