GCET organizes workshop on Swachhata and Clean India Campaign

JAMMU, Oct 1: The NSS Unit of Government College of Engineering & Technology (GCET), Jammu, successfully organized a two-day workshop in alignment with the “Clean India Campaign” and “Swachhata Hi Sewa” initiative to mark the upcoming celebrations of Gandhi Jayanti.

The workshop was conducted under the patronage of the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Sameru Sharma, who emphasized the significance of cleanliness as an essential component of a healthy and responsible lifestyle. In her message, Dr. Sharma stated that “Swachhata (cleanliness) is a state of hygienic surroundings that we must create for ourselves. It is not just a responsibility but a pleasant habit essential for a healthy lifestyle.”

She further emphasized that the practice of cleanliness must begin from the places we frequently visit, including homes, colleges, institutions, communities and workplaces, and should be incorporated into everyday life.

The two-day programme featured a series of engaging activities aimed at sensitizing students and the community towards cleanliness and environmental responsibility.

The workshop commenced with a on line Poster Making Competition on the theme “Garbage-Free India.” Students from various engineering disciplines participated enthusiastically and expressed their ideas and concerns regarding cleanliness and waste management through creative and impactful posters.

As part of the subsequent phase, an extensive Swachhata Campaign was organized within the college campus as well as in the adopted village. NSS volunteers actively interacted with local residents and sensitized them about the importance of maintaining clean surroundings.
