JAMMU, Sep 29: BJP OBC Morcha, District Jammu, organised an organ donation awareness and registration camp at Chowk Chabutra, Jammu, with the objective of spreading awareness about the importance of organ donation and encouraging people to come forward for the cause.
Member of Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma attended the programme as the chief guest and personally filled out the organ donation pledge form. He appealed to the public to understand the importance of organ donation and contribute towards saving precious lives.
BJP OBC Morcha J&K President Braham Jyot Satti, BJP District President Rajesh Gupta, District Vice President Ramesh Gupta, District General Secretaries Sumit Raina and Ravi Sharma, and District Spokesperson Keshav Chopra were also present. The programme was organised by District President Arun Sethi along with his team.
During the camp, an oath was administered to participants with the message “Shramdaan during life and Angdaan after death”, highlighting the importance of serving society during one’s lifetime and pledging to donate organs after death to help extend the gift of life to others.
Speaking on the occasion, Jugal Kishore Sharma described organ donation as an important form of service to humanity. He said awareness about organ donation remains comparatively low, while many patients continue to face difficulties due to the timely unavailability of suitable organs.
He stressed the importance of families discussing organ donation openly, understanding the medical and legal procedures involved, and communicating their wishes to their loved ones. According to him, greater awareness, informed consent and sensitive communication can help address misconceptions and make organ donation a more familiar and responsible process.
Sharma further said organ donation should be viewed not merely as a medical decision but also as a humanitarian contribution. He emphasised the need to disseminate reliable information through schools, colleges, community organisations and religious institutions.
He also highlighted the importance of medical guidance, awareness of the applicable legal procedures and family consent in responsible organ donation. Regular awareness programmes at the community level, he said, can help reduce fear and confusion and encourage people to consider organ donation as an act of service and human responsibility.
Braham Jyot Satti expressed gratitude to Jugal Kishore Sharma for attending the programme and personally completing the organ donation pledge. He said such participation could encourage more members of the public to learn about and consider organ donation.
Satti also thanked party functionaries, workers and members of the public who participated in the camp and took the pledge. He appreciated the medical team and officials associated with the programme, including Anshu Sharma, Consultant (IEC/Media), SOTTO J&K; Irfan Ahmad Lone, Transplant Coordinator, SOTTO J&K; Nisha Kumari, Programme Assistant, SOTTO J&K; Manik Sharma, Transplant Coordinator, GMC Jammu; Ashok Singh; and Ashwini Kumar, Driver, SOTTO J&K, for their cooperation in facilitating the awareness and registration activity.
He also appreciated District President Arun Sethi and his team for organising the programme and undertaking initiatives aimed at raising awareness about important social issues. He said such community-level activities help strengthen the spirit of service and encourage collective participation for the welfare of society.
