JAMMU, Sep 18: An Awareness-cum-Promotion Programme on the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) 2.0 was organised at Government Polytechnic College Jammu to sensitise students about apprenticeship opportunities and the benefits of gaining practical industry exposure.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Er. Talet Mahmood, Principal, Government Polytechnic College Jammu, who highlighted the importance of apprenticeship training in bridging the gap between technical education and industry requirements. He encouraged students to make use of available apprenticeship opportunities to strengthen their practical skills and improve their employability.
During the programme, students were provided guidance on various aspects of the apprenticeship registration process. They were informed about registration on the Apprenticeship Portal, completion of their 100 per cent student profile, e-KYC and verification. Students were also advised to correctly update their personal, educational and other required details on the portal.
The participants were further briefed on how to explore and apply for suitable apprenticeship opportunities. The speakers explained that apprenticeship training can help students enhance their practical skills, technical knowledge, workplace exposure and overall industry readiness.
Students were advised to complete their registration, 100 per cent profile completion and e-KYC at the earliest so that they can take advantage of available opportunities under NAPS 2.0. The programme also emphasised the role of apprenticeship training in facilitating the transition of Polytechnic students from technical education to employment and the industrial sector.
As part of the promotion and outreach initiative, it was proposed to organise similar awareness programmes in the coming days in collaboration with nearby educational institutions and concerned departments. The initiative aims to reach a larger number of students and create wider awareness about NAPS 2.0 and the apprenticeship opportunities available to technical students.
Er. Hameed Malik, Lecturer, Computer Department, was appointed as the Nodal Officer for Government Polytechnic College Jammu for the initiative. Heads of different departments, faculty members and other staff were present during the awareness programme.
The college also announced that an Apprenticeship Mela will be organised at Government Polytechnic College Jammu in the coming days to provide students with greater opportunities to interact with prospective employers and explore apprenticeship prospects.
The programme concluded with an emphasis on encouraging maximum participation of Polytechnic students in apprenticeship training and equipping them with the practical knowledge and industry exposure required to enhance their career prospects.
