JAMMU, Sep 14: The Indian Institute of Management Jammu commenced the Nurturing Future Leadership Programme (Batch-22) under the aegis of the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme (MMTTP), Ministry of Education, Government of India.
The five-day programme, being conducted from September 14 to 18 at the MDP Centre, IIM Jammu, aims to strengthen leadership capabilities, enhance professional competencies and provide contemporary perspectives relevant to leadership in the higher education sector.
Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean, Faculty and Research, IIM Jammu, highlighted the need for academia to continuously evolve in response to a rapidly changing world and play a more transformative role in leadership, institution building and knowledge creation.
Reflecting on IIM Jammu’s ten-year journey, he highlighted the Institute’s institutional achievements, including two international accreditations, as well as its sustained engagement with the Government of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said such programmes provide an important platform for institutions to exchange experiences, share best practices and collectively advance management education.
Prof. Prashant Mishra, Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy, IIM Jammu, highlighted the role of executive education in building a bridge between industry and academia. He outlined the Institute’s training and capacity-building initiatives and emphasised the importance of bringing experiences from different sectors into a common learning environment.
The inaugural ceremony commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. Dr. Kapil Gumte, Programme Director, said the role of teachers is increasingly evolving towards leadership responsibilities.
He said the five-day programme, featuring sessions by experts, has been designed to create leadership pathways for educators and strengthen their capacity to lead, reflect and contribute to institutional development.
The inaugural ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Jaganth, Programme Director, followed by the National Song and National Anthem and a group photograph.
The programme is designed to provide participants with an enriching learning experience through academic engagement, interactive sessions and leadership-oriented learning. Through such initiatives, IIM Jammu continues to contribute towards institutional capacity building and the development of future-ready leadership in the higher education sector.
