KULGAM, Sep 14: The stone crusher operated by BS Builders at Chekpora Bemdoora in Kulgam is allegedly running illegally without a valid No Objection Certificate (NOC) since May this year, with the unit reportedly supplying crushed material to worksites beyond the project for which it was originally permitted.
The crusher was reportedly granted permission specifically for the NH-444 Kulgam Bypass project. However, sources alleged that material from the unit is being ferried to other locations for construction works as well.
District Pollution Officer Kulgam, Bashir Ahmad Wani confirmed that the crusher’s NOC was valid only up to May this year and that no valid NOC is in place as of date.
“The NOC was provided only for the NH-444 Kulgam Bypass and not for other sites. If it is operating presently, it is operating illegally,” the officer said.
He said notices had already been issued to the concerned unit and the matter had been taken up with higher authorities for further necessary action.
The officer added that the operator has now applied for a fresh NOC, which would be examined by the competent authority as per the applicable rules.
