LUB J&K raises industrial package issue at national meet; leadership assures Centre-level intervention

JAMMU, Sep 8: A five-member delegation of Laghu Udyog Bharati (LUB), Jammu & Kashmir participated in the three-day All India Working and Executive Committee Meeting of the organisation held in Ayodhya from September 6 to 8, where it strongly highlighted the challenges confronting industries and MSMEs in the Union Territory and sought a fresh and effective industrial incentive package.

The J&K delegation comprised Parveen Pargal, National Executive Member and Prabhari J&K; Dinesh Gupta, State President; Aagam Jain, State General Secretary; Ishant Gupta, State Treasurer; and Rajinder Sadotra, State Joint Treasurer.

During the meeting, the delegation emphasised that industries and MSMEs in Jammu & Kashmir face significant geographical and logistical disadvantages, including higher transportation and freight costs, distance from major markets and raw-material sources, and other location-specific challenges. It stressed that a dedicated incentive framework and sustained policy support are essential to improve the competitiveness, viability and long-term growth of the industrial sector in J&K.

The national leadership of LUB assured the delegation that the concerns would be taken up at the highest appropriate level. It was also conveyed that a meeting with the Union Home Secretary is expected in the coming days, during which the issue of the industrial package and incentives for Jammu & Kashmir would be raised.

A significant organisational decision taken during the National Executive Meeting was the constitution of a dedicated Skill Development and ITIs team for Jammu & Kashmir.

Ishant Gupta was nominated as State Incharge, J&K, while Rajinder Sadotra was appointed State Co-Incharge. Raghav Gupta and Sandeep Gupta were nominated as Coordinators for J&K.

The newly constituted team will focus on strengthening skill-development initiatives, improving coordination with Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and exploring opportunities to enhance skill-based training and employability across Jammu & Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Dinesh Gupta and Aagam Jain presented the detailed State Vrit (State Report) of Jammu & Kashmir before the national leadership. The report highlighted the organisational activities of LUB J&K, membership growth, expansion of the organisation and various initiatives undertaken by the UT unit.

The three-day national meeting covered a wide range of organisational and industrial issues. Discussions included State Vrit presentations, the organisation’s nine organisational pillars, Artificial Intelligence and business, MSME opportunities in the defence sector, research and development, technology, SIDBI, skill development, finance, revenue generation and mass communication, besides other organisational matters.

The J&K delegation also held interactions with national office bearers and representatives from different states during the meeting. The delegation reiterated that LUB J&K would continue to raise the concerns of industries and MSMEs of Jammu & Kashmir at both the UT and national levels.

The participation of the J&K unit in the national deliberations provided an important platform to place the region’s industrial challenges before the organisation’s national leadership and seek coordinated efforts for strengthening the MSME ecosystem and promoting sustainable industrial growth in Jammu & Kashmir.
