MANDI, Sep 8: A comprehensive health camp was organised on Tuesday in the far-flung border area of Gali Maidan, Gagrina, under the chairmanship and supervision of BMO Mandi, Dr. Riyaz Jan, with the aim of bringing accessible and quality healthcare services closer to residents of the remote area.

Nearly 200 patients availed themselves of medical services during the camp. Specialized consultations were provided in Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Ophthalmology and General Medicine, besides routine health check-ups.

The camp also provided essential diagnostic facilities, including X-ray examinations and blood sugar testing, enabling residents to access multiple healthcare services at a single location. Free medicines were distributed to patients as per medical advice.

A large number of women, children and elderly persons from Gali Maidan and surrounding areas attended the camp. The initiative was particularly significant for residents of the difficult-to-reach border region, where access to specialised healthcare services can be challenging.

The camp witnessed active participation from the medical, paramedical and support teams, including Tawhida, Dr. Muzaffar, other medical officers, laboratory personnel, X-ray staff, drivers and supporting staff. Their coordinated efforts ensured the smooth delivery of healthcare and diagnostic services to the visiting patients.

Alongside clinical services, a dedicated health-awareness session was conducted for the local population. Residents were sensitised about preventive measures against seasonal illnesses, influenza and viral infections, with emphasis on maintaining personal hygiene, cleanliness and proper sanitation.

The healthcare team also advised residents to seek medical attention if they experience a persistent cough, particularly lasting for more than a week. They were advised to approach the nearest health institution for proper medical evaluation and, where indicated, sputum examination to facilitate early detection and timely management of respiratory illnesses.

Local residents expressed appreciation for the initiative, stating that such outreach programmes provide valuable medical support to people living in remote and underserved areas.

The successful conduct of the health camp underlined the commitment of BMO Mandi Dr. Riyaz Jan and the healthcare team towards extending essential and specialised healthcare services to communities in far-flung areas and ensuring that quality medical care reaches people closer to their homes.
