KATHUA, Sep 5: Government Degree College for Women (GDCW) celebrated Teachers’ Day with great enthusiasm and fervour on the college campus. The programme was organised by the Department of Education under the guidance of Senior Professor Prof. Seema Jolly.
The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp to seek the blessings of Maa Saraswati. Dr. Rachna, HOD, Department of Education, extended warm greetings to the gathering on the special occasion and highlighted the life, contributions and educational philosophy of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, whose birth anniversary is celebrated as Teachers’ Day in India.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Seema Jolly, Senior Professor, congratulated the Department of Education for organising the wonderful programme and appreciated the efforts of the faculty and students in making the celebration meaningful and memorable.
The students presented a variety of poems, speeches and cultural performances expressing their gratitude and respect towards their teachers. Their enthusiastic participation added colour and vibrancy to the celebrations.
Dr. Ashwini Khajuria, Dr. Amita Dua and Dr. Gopal Sharma also shared their valuable views with the students and emphasised the significant role of teachers in shaping the character, values and future of students.
Around 100 students participated in the event. Prof. Ashwani Khajuria, Dr. Deepshikha, Dr. Amita Dua, along with teaching and non-teaching faculty members, were present on the occasion.
The celebration concluded on a joyful and inspiring note, reaffirming the timeless bond of respect, gratitude and learning between teachers and students.
