JAMMU, Sep 2: Zone RS Pura emerged as the overall winner in the Kho-Kho Girls U-14, U-17 and U-19 categories at the Inter-Zonal District Level Competitions held at Green Field Ground, Gandhi Nagar. The competitions were organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports as part of its ongoing district-level sporting activities.
In the U-14 Girls category, Zone RS Pura defeated Zone Dansal 8-5 in the first semifinal, while Zone Miran Sahib beat Zone Jammu 9-5 in the second semifinal. In the final, RS Pura defeated Miran Sahib 7-5 to claim the title.
In U-17 Girls, RS Pura registered a 10-6 victory over Miran Sahib in the first semifinal, while Jammu defeated Dansal 7-3 in the other semifinal. RS Pura then defeated Jammu 9-6 in the final.
The U-19 Girls competition also belonged to RS Pura. It defeated Bhalwal 11-8 in the semifinal, while Khour overcame Satwari 9-4. In the final, RS Pura beat Khour 11-6 to complete a clean sweep of all three Kho-Kho titles.
Meanwhile, competitions in Cricket, Football, Kabaddi and Handball continued at different venues across District Jammu, with approximately 450 students from various zones participating.
In U-19 Girls Kabaddi, RS Pura defeated Gandhi Nagar 18-16, Akhnoor beat Satwari 30-15, and Marh defeated Jammu 28-16.
In U-19 Boys Football, Satwari defeated Miran Sahib 1-0, while Dansal beat Miran Sahib 2-1.
In U-19 Boys Cricket, Satwari defeated Akhnoor by five wickets. Akhnoor scored 111/7, with Rajan making 41 runs, while Akshay took two wickets for Satwari. Satwari chased the target, scoring 112 in 12.3 overs, with Akshat contributing 32 runs. Vivek took two wickets for Akhnoor.
The competitions are being held under the patronage of Director General Youth Services and Sports, J&K, Smt. Anuradha Gupta (JKAS), guidance of Joint Director Jammu Division Sh. Inderjeet Singh (JKAS) and supervision of DYSSO Jammu Sh. Sukhdev Raj Sharma. Sharma appreciated the participants and urged them to uphold discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship.
