DODA, Sep 2: The Indian Army inaugurated the Cricket Premier League 2026 under Operation Sadbhavana at Thaloran Ground, Gwari (Gando), Doda, on 02 September 2026, as part of its continued efforts to promote unity, resilience and community engagement in the region.
The month-long tournament, scheduled from 02 September to 30 September 2026, commenced with great enthusiasm and participation from 128 teams representing various areas across Doda and the Chenab Valley. The league will witness exciting cricketing encounters, providing players an opportunity to showcase their talent, teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship.
The Indian Army continues to stand alongside the local population, not only during challenging times but also in moments of celebration and progress. The cricket league reflects the true spirit of Operation Sadbhavana by strengthening civil-military relations, promoting peace and encouraging healthy competition among the youth.
The tournament serves as a platform for nurturing sporting talent, boosting confidence among young individuals and fostering harmony and camaraderie across the region. The inaugural ceremony witnessed an overwhelming response from spectators, local residents and dignitaries, reflecting the growing enthusiasm for sports and community participation in the Gando-Bhalessa region. A senior officer of the Indian Army, Shri Dileep Singh Parihar, MLA Bhaderwah and Shri Arun Kumar Bandyal, SDM Gando, graced the occasion as the Chief Guests and formally inaugurated the tournament.
The dignitaries, in their addresses motivated the participating teams to demonstrate the values of teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
