SVMM Hospital crosses milestone of 600 vascular procedures

JAMMU, Aug 22: Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission (SVMM) Hospital, Ambphalla, Jammu, has achieved a significant milestone by successfully performing more than 600 vascular procedures, reaffirming its commitment to providing advanced, affordable and comprehensive vascular surgical care to patients in Jammu and adjoining areas.

The procedures were performed by Dr. Arvind Kohli, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeon and Medical Director, SVMM Hospital. The achievement reflects the hospital’s sustained efforts towards strengthening dedicated vascular surgical services in the region.

Of the total procedures, 415 were endovenous interventions for varicose veins, performed using minimally invasive techniques that facilitate early recovery with excellent functional and cosmetic outcomes. In addition, 105 arteriovenous (AV) fistula procedures were successfully performed for patients with chronic kidney disease requiring haemodialysis.

The vascular surgery unit has also undertaken a wide range of procedures, including ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy, excision of arteriovenous malformations, surgical thrombectomy for acute and critical limb ischaemia, peripheral arterial bypass procedures and correction of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. These interventions have contributed significantly to limb salvage and improved quality of life for patients suffering from vascular diseases.

A notable feature of this achievement is that the majority of these procedures were performed under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), enabling economically weaker patients to access advanced vascular care without financial hardship.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Arvind Kohli said, “This milestone reflects the trust reposed in our institution by patients and referring physicians. Our objective has always been to make modern vascular surgery and endovascular treatments accessible and affordable while maintaining the highest standards of patient care. We remain committed to expanding these services and introducing newer technologies for the benefit of our patients.”

The management of Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission congratulated the entire vascular surgery team, anaesthesiologists, physicians, nursing staff, technicians and supporting personnel whose dedication made this achievement possible.

Amar Chand Gupta, President, SVMM, expressed gratitude to the patients for their continued faith and reiterated the Mission’s commitment to ethical, high-quality and patient-centred healthcare.

B.S. Jamwal, General Secretary, SVMM, said, “This achievement reflects our continued care and commitment towards patients. With its continued focus on quality, affordability and patient care, SVMM Hospital is strengthening its position as an important centre for vascular surgery and minimally invasive venous interventions in Jammu and the surrounding region.
