JAMMU, Aug 21: The four-day Inter-School Badminton Championship (Cluster 1) concluded successfully at Army Public School (APS) Damana today. Held from August 18 to 21, 2026, the championship witnessed enthusiastic participation from students representing various Army Public Schools.
The opening ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Brigadier Kumar Anand, Commander Chenab Brigade and Chairman, APS Damana. Addressing the young athletes, he encouraged them to participate with dedication, confidence and determination while upholding the values of sportsmanship and fair play.
The championship featured a series of intense and closely contested matches, with young shuttlers displaying impressive skill, agility and competitive spirit. The tournament provided the participants with an opportunity to showcase their sporting talent while also promoting teamwork, discipline, camaraderie and healthy competition.
After four days of spirited competition, APS Kaluchak emerged as the overall winner of the championship. APS Jammu Cantt secured the first runner-up position, while APS BD Bari finished as the second runner-up.
Varinder Singh, HOD Physical Education, APS Damana, played a significant role in coordinating and facilitating the smooth conduct of the championship. Coaches and teachers from the participating schools appreciated the well-organised arrangements and the efficient conduct of the tournament.
Pushphinder Kaur, Principal, APS Damana, congratulated all the participating players and praised them for their dedication, discipline and sporting spirit. She also expressed gratitude to the coaches, officials, referees and members of the organising committee for their valuable contribution towards the successful execution of the championship.
The four-day event concluded on a high note, celebrating sporting excellence and reinforcing important values of perseverance, discipline, teamwork and fair play among young athletes.
