JAMMU, Aug 21: GGM Science College, Jammu, felicitated its outstanding sportspersons for their remarkable achievements in various inter-collegiate and inter-university sports competitions during the academic session 2025–26.

The felicitation ceremony, simple yet impactful, was graced by Principal Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, who honoured the players and congratulated them for bringing laurels to the institution by securing the prestigious Overall Rolling Trophy of Cluster University of Jammu.

Addressing the sportspersons on the occasion, Dr. Romesh K. Gupta, appreciated their discipline, dedication and commitment and urged them to continue striving for excellence in both sports and academics.

He emphasized that sporting achievements not only bring recognition to the institution but also contribute significantly to the holistic development, confidence and leadership qualities of students.

Prof. Gupta also called upon the students to actively support the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan and spread awareness against drug abuse. He highlighted the vital role of sports in promoting discipline, physical fitness, mental well-being and a healthy lifestyle, while keeping youth away from substance abuse and other social evils.

He assured the players that the College administration would continue to strengthen sports infrastructure, training facilities and athlete-support mechanisms.

The achievement also reflects the significant contribution of Prof. (Dr.) Devinder Kumar Sharma, Associate Professor, Department of Physics and former HOD, Physical Education & Sports, whose dedicated guidance, mentorship and consistent efforts played an important role in helping the College secure the Overall Rolling Trophy.

Dr. Sharma congratulated the players for their outstanding performance and assured them of his continued guidance and support in their future sporting endeavours.

Dr. Ravinder Kumar, College Director of Physical Education & Sports, called upon the players to remain committed, disciplined and focused on their goals. He stated that sustained efforts would be made to retain the Overall Rolling Trophy in the coming sessions. He emphasized that regular training, teamwork, discipline and consistent performance would remain the key pillars of the College’s continued sporting success. Prof. P. S. Thakur, Sports Convener, was also present on the occasion, who in turn also congratulated all the champion teams, medal winners, sportspersons, coaches and supporting staff for their valuable contribution to the institution’s sporting success.
