Psychology students bring joy, warmth and beautiful memories to Vridh Ashram

JAMMU, Aug 20: Some visits are remembered not for what is said, but for the smiles and warmth they leave behind. The Home for the Aged & Infirm (Vridh Ashram), Ambphalla, Jammu, witnessed one such heartwarming afternoon when a group of Psychology students associated with Man Sadhna Foundation visited the Home under the guidance of their teacher, Pavneet Kaur.

What began as an educational visit soon transformed into a beautiful celebration of music, affection, laughter and human connection. The students spent meaningful time with the elderly residents, interacting with them with warmth and genuine affection. Conversations flowed freely, smiles were exchanged, and for a while, the age difference between the young visitors and the elderly residents seemed to disappear. The interaction created an atmosphere in which the residents felt heard, valued and remembered.

Adding colour and cheer to the occasion, the students presented a lively dance performance that brought smiles to the faces of the residents and filled the Home with happiness. A soothing piano performance further enriched the gathering, creating a memorable musical experience for everyone present.

For the residents, the performances were more than entertainment. They were moments of companionship and affection—reminders that young people are willing to share their time, talents and energy to bring happiness into their lives.

The students also showed keen interest in understanding the environment and functioning of the Home. Towards the end of the visit, they were taken around the premises and introduced to various facilities and areas, giving them a closer understanding of the day-to-day life, arrangements and care provided to the residents.

Dr. Dinesh Gupta, Secretary, along with Dr. B.B. Sharma, Ex-CMO and Medical Officer of the Home Dispensary, Mr. Vijay Dhawan, Sr. Rajinder Singh, Mr. Satpal Sharma and Mrs. Sudha Gupta, all Members of the Managing Committee, graced the occasion. Members of the staff also participated in the programme.

The visiting students included Vanshika Dhar, Hargun Kaur, Tanisha Mahajan, Ananya Nischal, Suzain Farooq, Sakshi Khullar, Ashu Raina, Katiyani Mahajan, Aiyza Naz Chib, Diya Bhat, Avni Gupta, Shiny James, Kashvee Jain, Falin Bhan, Ankita Sharma, Navvya Verma, Kismat Gupta, Kanishka Raina, Anjali Kumari, Aarushi Sharma and Prarish Varsha Devyal, accompanied by their teacher, Ms. Pavneet Kaur.

The visit concluded with a group photograph capturing the students, residents and members of the Home together. The photograph served as a cherished reminder of a day when different generations came together with open hearts.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Dinesh Gupta, Secretary, appreciated the students and their teacher for spending their valuable time with the residents and bringing warmth and happiness to the Home. He observed that interactions between young people and senior citizens are valuable for both generations, as they help nurture empathy, sensitivity, respect and a deeper understanding of life.

The visit by the students of Man Sadhna Foundation beautifully demonstrated that the greatest gifts are not always material. Sometimes, the most meaningful gifts are simply time, companionship, attention and a little happiness.

As the students departed, they left behind more than memories of their visit. They left smiles on the faces of the residents, music in the corridors and warmth in the hearts of everyone present.

When young hearts meet the wisdom of age, a simple visit can become something much more—a moment becomes a memory, and a gathering becomes a lasting bond.
