KISHTWAR, Aug 19: Kishtwar district has been conferred with the Union Territory-level Har Ghar Tiranga–Vande Mataram Award 2026 in recognition of its outstanding performance and public participation during the campaign.

Pawan Kotwal, JKAS, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar and Nodal Officer for the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign in the district, received the award from the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir at the main Har Ghar Tiranga 2026 event held at Botanical Garden, Srinagar.

The recognition follows Kishtwar’s remarkable performance at the national level. The district secured first position in the first phase, second position in the second phase and third position in the special phase of the campaign.

Expressing gratitude after receiving the honour, Pawan Kotwal dedicated the award to the people of Kishtwar and acknowledged their enthusiastic participation. He said the achievement was made possible under the dynamic leadership of Pankaj Kumar Sharma, JKAS, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, who personally monitored the campaign activities and encouraged youth and students to participate with renewed enthusiasm.

Kotwal also appreciated the collective efforts of the district and police administrations, frontline officials, educational institutions, youth groups, civil society organisations and other stakeholders who contributed to the success of the campaign.

“This award belongs to every resident of Kishtwar who took part with enthusiasm and patriotism,” he said.

The officer said the achievement reflected Kishtwar’s strong commitment to promoting national pride, civic participation and community engagement. Coordinated outreach programmes involving schools, government departments and community organisations played an important role in generating widespread participation and visibility for the campaign.

Officials said the award recognises not only effective leadership but also the strong public spirit demonstrated by the people of Kishtwar. The achievement further highlights the district’s role in successfully implementing national initiatives and encouraging citizens, particularly young people, to actively participate in programmes celebrating India’s national identity and civic heritage.
