Youth should stay away from drugs and channel their energy positively towards education: SSP Manhas

JAMMU, Aug 19: On the occasion of Sanskrit Month, the Shri Kailakh Jyotish avim Vedic sansthan Trust organized a Sanskrit Shobha Yatra and Anti-Drug Rally on Wednesday from Bright Future High School, Garhi, in the Jammu North Assembly Constituency. The programme aimed to promote and preserve the Sanskrit language while creating awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and inspiring young people to adopt a drug-free lifestyle.

Students, teachers, representatives of social and religious organizations, and prominent citizens participated enthusiastically in the rally. The rally commenced from the school premises, passed through the adjoining areas, and concluded back at the school premises.

Chief Guest SSP Varinder Singh Manhas said that Sanskrit is an important foundation of India’s rich cultural, spiritual and intellectual heritage. He stated that the fight against drug abuse is not the sole responsibility of the police but a collective responsibility of families, schools, social and religious institutions, and every citizen. He called upon the youth to stay away from drugs and channel their energy towards education, sports, values and nation-building.

Mahant Rohit Shastri, President of the Trust and a State Award recipient, said that Sanskrit is an invaluable heritage of our culture, knowledge and traditions. He said that, alongside promoting Sanskrit and cultural activities, the Trust is also encouraging public participation in education, social awareness and the campaign against drug abuse. He appealed to parents and teachers to strengthen communication with children and engage them in sports, culture and creative activities.

During the rally, students and participants raised messages promoting Sanskrit and creating awareness against drug abuse, and collectively pledged to work towards building a drug-free society.

Those present on the occasion included Balram Sharma, SHO Kanachak Police Station, Vandna Kumari,Lakhwinder Verma, Rakesh Singh, Kulbhushan Jamwal,Aman Sharma,Amit Jamwal, Honey Singh, Lucky Sharma, Uttam Chand Sharma, Master Vijay Kumar Sharma, and other prominent citizens.

The Trust expressed its gratitude to the school management, students, teachers, representatives of social and religious organizations, prominent citizens, and media representatives for their participation and support.
