GDC Katra organises entrepreneurship awareness programme under Udyam Jagriti 5.0

KATRA, Aug 18: Government Degree College (GDC) Katra, in collaboration with the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, and the District Employment and Counselling Centre (DECC), Reasi, organised an Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme under the implementation of Udyam Jagriti 5.0.

The programme aimed to sensitise students about emerging entrepreneurial opportunities, government schemes and avenues for self-employment, while encouraging them to develop innovative business ideas and become job creators.

The programme commenced with a formal welcome address by Dr. Sajaad Iqbal Khan, In-Charge and IIC Coordinator, GDC Katra, who highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship awareness among young students in building a culture of innovation and self-reliance.

Dr. Rajni Bhagat, Principal of the college, shared her views on the growing opportunities in the entrepreneurial sector and apprised students about various government schemes available to aspiring entrepreneurs. She encouraged students to explore self-employment opportunities and make effective use of institutional and government support.

Experts from the Ministry of MSME and the District Employment and Counselling Centre, Reasi, interacted with the students and provided detailed information and practical guidance regarding various schemes launched by the Government of India and the Government of Jammu and Kashmir.

Officials from DECC Reasi also explained the implementation of Udyam Jagriti 5.0, highlighting its role in promoting entrepreneurship, employment generation and economic empowerment among youth. Students were briefed about the opportunities available under the initiative and the procedures for accessing relevant government benefits.

The officials further provided detailed information regarding students’ participation in the selection of four best unique entrepreneurship ideas under Udyam Jagriti 5.0. The initiative is aimed at identifying and encouraging innovative ideas among young people and providing them with opportunities to pursue entrepreneurial ventures.

Students actively participated in the programme and interacted with the visiting experts. They gained valuable insights into government schemes, entrepreneurial opportunities, eligibility criteria and procedures for availing institutional support.

The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Nasar Ahmed, Mission Yuva Coordinator, who expressed gratitude to the collaborating departments, experts, college administration, faculty members and students for making the programme successful.
