JAMMU, Aug 15: The 80th Independence Day of the country was celebrated with great patriotic fervour, enthusiasm and pride at the Government Mega Fruit Plant Nursery (MFPN), Chakroi, on Saturday.
The programme witnessed the active participation of senior District-level officers and the dedicated staff of the Chakroi Farm.
The National Flag was unfurled by S. Perminder Singh, District Horticulture Officer, Jammu and In-charge, MFPN Chakroi, in the presence of Sunil Manoori, Abhinav Gupta and Amit Saraf, District-level officers, along with the officers, officials and staff members of the Chakroi Farm.
The flag-hoisting ceremony was followed by the rendition of the National Anthem, which filled the atmosphere with a deep sense of patriotism and national pride. The gathering paid heartfelt tribute to the freedom fighters and national heroes whose courage, sacrifice and unwavering commitment laid the foundation of an independent India.
Speaking on the occasion, the officers highlighted the significance of Independence Day as a reminder of the responsibilities that accompany freedom. They emphasized that the progress of the nation depends not only on economic development but also on dedication, integrity, discipline and sincere service to the people.
The officers and staff also reiterated their collective commitment towards further strengthening the horticulture sector in Jammu and Kashmir, promoting modern and sustainable horticultural practices, supporting farmers and contributing towards increasing productivity, income and employment opportunities in the rural economy.
The Government Mega Fruit Plant Nursery, Chakroi, being an important departmental facility for quality fruit plant production and dissemination, was highlighted as playing a significant role in supporting the horticulture development initiatives of the Department. The participating officers and staff expressed their resolve to work with greater dedication towards achieving the objectives of various horticulture development programmes and ensuring that the benefits of departmental initiatives reach the farming community effectively.
The occasion also provided an opportunity for the officers and staff to reaffirm their commitment to the ideals enshrined in the Constitution and to work collectively for the welfare of farmers and the overall development of the region.
The programme concluded on a patriotic note with a collective pledge to uphold the values of unity, integrity, dedication and service to the nation, while continuing to contribute sincerely towards the growth and prosperity of the horticulture sector and the country.
