RAJOURI, Aug 12: As part of its continued efforts to promote digital safety and responsible use of technology, the Indian Army conducted two cyber awareness initiatives for students and teachers in Rajouri district.

At Government Higher Secondary School, Dalhori, the Indian Army organised an awareness lecture on “Cyber Crime”, covering online fraud, identity theft, cyberbullying, phishing, social media misuse and other internet-based threats. Participants were also briefed on safeguarding personal information, using strong passwords and verifying suspicious links and messages. A total of 53 participants, including 27 boys, 21 girls and five teachers, attended the programme. Students actively participated in the interaction and pledged to spread cyber awareness within their villages.

In another initiative at Higher Secondary School, Sialsui, the Indian Army conducted a Cyber Awareness Podcast on Banking and Financial Safety, sensitising students and teachers about emerging threats associated with digital banking and online payment services. The session highlighted OTP scams, phishing links, fake banking calls, UPI and payment frauds, fraudulent applications and social-engineering attacks. Participants were advised never to share OTPs, ATM or UPI PINs, passwords or other confidential banking information and to verify suspicious communications before conducting financial transactions.

The initiatives reinforced the Indian Army’s commitment to empowering local youth with practical knowledge for safe, vigilant and responsible participation in the digital world.
