Mission Statehood to observe ‘Black Day’ on August 5: Dimple

JAMMU, Jul 30: Mission Statehood President Sunil Dimple on Thursday announced that the organization will observe “Black Day” across Jammu and Kashmir on August 5. Addressing the media after a meeting of the Mission Statehood working committee, Dimple said the committee had unanimously passed a resolution to mark the day throughout the Union Territory.

According to Dimple, the observance is being organized to protest what he described as the dismantling of the erstwhile princely State of Jammu and Kashmir under Maharaja Hari Singh and the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A on August 5, 2019.

He appealed to all political parties, including the Congress, National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Apni Party, and Peoples Conference, as well as youth organizations, the Jammu and Srinagar Bar Associations, and Chambers of Commerce, to participate in the observance of “Black Day” across Jammu and Kashmir.

Dimple reiterated that Mission Statehood would continue its campaign for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood, the restoration of Article 370, and the reunification of Ladakh, Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), Gilgit, and Baltistan with Jammu and Kashmir.

He further announced that Mission Statehood would file a writ petition in the Supreme Court in August, challenging the delay in restoring Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood. He stated that the petition would seek implementation of the Supreme Court’s direction regarding the restoration of statehood at the earliest.

Expressing satisfaction over the movement’s growth, Dimple said Mission Statehood had initiated the struggle for the restoration of statehood on August 5, 2019, and claimed that the campaign had now evolved into a mass movement.

The meeting was attended by working committee members Ashok Sharma, Nitin Saini, Dev Raj, Mukesh, Vicky, Rakesh, Manzoor, Naginder Chowdhhry, Rocky Kapoor, Ashok Kumar, Happy, and other members of the organization.
