SRINAGAR, Jul 30: Director, Fire and Emergency Services, Jammu and Kashmir, ADGP Alok Kumar, IPS, on Thursday felicitated seven serving and retired personnel of the department by presenting them with Gallantry Medals (GM), Meritorious Service Medals (MMS) and appreciation certificates in recognition of their exceptional courage, distinguished service and unwavering commitment to duty.
The award ceremony was organized to honour personnel who have displayed exemplary bravery and dedication while safeguarding lives and property during emergency situations. The Director lauded the recipients for their professionalism, selfless service and outstanding contributions to the department.
The personnel honoured on the occasion included Firdous Ahmad Khan (LFM-1449) and Bashir Ahmad Ahanger (FM-1996), who were awarded the Medal for Gallantry (GM) for their exceptional courage in the line of duty. Puran Singh (LFM), Satpal Khujuriya (LFM), Ab Rashid Ganie, Sub Officer (Retired) and Gh. Mohi-ud-Din Dar (SGFM) received the Medal for Meritorious Service (MMS) in recognition of their distinguished and dedicated service to the department.
A posthumous Medal for Gallantry was also conferred upon Late S.K. Raina in recognition of his exemplary courage and sacrifice. The honour was presented as a tribute to his outstanding service and commitment to protecting the lives and property of the people.
Addressing the gathering, ADGP Alok Kumar congratulated the awardees and appreciated their remarkable contribution towards strengthening the Fire and Emergency Services Department. He said the medals symbolise not only individual excellence but also the spirit of courage, dedication and selfless service that defines the department.
He urged all officers and personnel to continue performing their duties with sincerity, discipline and compassion while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism in responding to emergencies and ensuring the safety of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of medals, appreciation certificates and congratulatory interactions with the awardees in the presence of senior officers and officials of the department, who applauded the recipients for their exemplary service and dedication.
