JKTDC Employees Union meets CM, seeks early resolution of employees’ pending issues

SRINAGAR, Jul 15: A delegation of the All Jammu & Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC) Employees Union, led by its President Qumer Din, on Tuesday met Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in Srinagar and submitted a memorandum seeking the Government’s intervention to resolve several long-pending issues concerning JKTDC employees.

The delegation appreciated the Government’s initiatives to promote tourism in Jammu and Kashmir and expressed confidence that ongoing efforts to strengthen tourism infrastructure would boost visitor inflow and create greater economic opportunities across the Union Territory.

The Union, however, highlighted a number of unresolved employee issues requiring immediate attention. Among its key demands were adequate budgetary support for JKTDC, immediate remittance of nearly 40 months’ pending Contributory Provident Fund (CPF) deposits, regular convening of Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meetings, regularisation of daily-wage employees with over 15 years of service, release of pending retirement benefits, timely payment of salaries, and implementation of Union Territory allowances, including Child Care and Transport Allowances.

The delegation also sought a special financial package for renovation of JKTDC properties across Jammu and Kashmir to improve tourism infrastructure and enhance the Corporation’s revenue.

A major issue raised was the implementation of the approved 40 per cent enhancement in Estate Accommodation Rent, cleared by the JKTDC Board of Directors in July 2025. The Union said the delay in implementing the decision has resulted in revenue losses and requested the Chief Minister to ensure its immediate enforcement.

The delegation expressed hope that the Government would take a sympathetic view of the demands and initiate early action to strengthen JKTDC, improve employees’ welfare, and enhance the Corporation’s financial sustainability.

The delegation comprised President Qumer Din, General Secretary Anata Koul, Chairman Arvin Tickoo (Jammu), Mustaq Magray (Kashmir), and Shalider Singh (Sonu) from Kashmir.
