MAHANPUR, Jul 11: The NSS Unit of Government Degree College (GDC) Mahanpur organised a Yoga and Meditation Session to promote physical fitness, mental well-being, and a healthy lifestyle among students. The programme was conducted under the guidance of the Principal, Dr. Sangeeta Sudan, and was coordinated by Dr. Rupalee Jasrotia, NSS Programme Officer.
The session began with simple warm-up exercises followed by various yoga asanas, pranayama, and meditation techniques. Participants were guided on the importance of regular yoga practice in improving concentration, reducing stress, enhancing emotional balance, and maintaining overall health. The meditation session encouraged students to develop inner peace, mindfulness, and self-discipline.
Addressing the participants, Principal Dr. Sangeeta Sudan highlighted that yoga is a priceless gift of India’s ancient tradition and should become an integral part of daily life. She encouraged students to practise yoga regularly for a healthy body, a calm mind, and a positive outlook.
Prof. Binti Sharma, HOD Physics, also motivated the NSS volunteers to adopt yoga and meditation as lifelong habits and to spread awareness about their benefits in society. She emphasised that the NSS aims to develop disciplined, responsible, and socially conscious youth through such wellness-oriented activities.
