KARGIL, Jul 3: A solemn Majlis-e-Tarhim was held at Gatoo Lankerchey, the native village of Late Hasina Banoo and Late Sougrah Banoo, who tragically lost their lives in a road accident on the Drass National Highway.
The condolence gathering witnessed the participation of a large number of relatives, prominent citizens, religious scholars, and local residents, who offered prayers for the departed souls and expressed solidarity with the bereaved families.
Among those present were Hujjat-ul-Islam wal Muslimeen Sheikh Raza Janati, Sheikh Mohammad Kazim Alam-ul-Huda, Sheikh Murtaza Ansari, and Councillor Saliskote Mohd Sajjad Khan.
Addressing the gathering, Hujjat-ul-Islam wal Muslimeen Sheikh Mohammad Kazim Alam-ul-Huda extended heartfelt condolences to the families of Aga Syed Muslim Mousavi, the family of Late Sajjad Qasimi, Haji Anayat Mehmood, and the family of Mohd Ali. He prayed that Almighty Allah grant the departed souls the highest place in Jannat-ul-Firdous and bless the bereaved families with patience and strength to endure their irreparable loss.
Sheikh Kazim also expressed profound gratitude to everyone who participated in the rescue and relief operations following the tragic accident. He especially acknowledged the residents of Drass, Murad Bagh, Marpochoo, Latoo, Hunderman, and nearby villages, who voluntarily allowed portions of their agricultural land to be used for rescue operations at Thanda Morh.
He appreciated the efforts of Darul Tabligh, Wal Jamaat Sheikh Hussain, Councillors Abdul Sammad and Abdul Wahid, Anjuman Ahle Hadith, Masjid Hanifee Drass, Molvi Imam Juma Ghulam Mohammad, and Masjid Gousia for arranging food, drinking water, and other essential facilities for rescue personnel and volunteers.
Special thanks were extended to the District Administration Drass, Deputy Commissioner Drass Imteeaz Kachoo, Superintendent of Police Drass Ishtiyaq Ahmad Kachoo, SHO Abdullah, Block Medical Officer SDH Drass Dr. Sajjad Hussain for arranging ambulance services, and Inspector Baqir along with the NDRF team for their dedicated rescue efforts.
The gathering also acknowledged the support extended by Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Jaffer Akhoon, former Executive Councillor Zakir Hussain, Member of Parliament for the Union Territory of Ladakh Haji Hanifa Jan, Al Mehdi Scouts of Jamiyat-ul-Ulama Isna Asharia Kargil, Baseej-e-Baqiyatullah Anjuman-e-Sahib Zaman, Baseej-e-Iman Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT), Ashabab Sankoo, Anjuman-e-Inquilab-e-Mehdi, Jafferiya Disaster Cell Suru, Ex-Servicemen Al-Ghadeer TSG Block, volunteers from Tambis, Gmpore and Trespone, as well as Councillor Aga Syed Mujtaba for their valuable contribution during the rescue mission.
Appreciation was also expressed for the people of Faroona, Saliskote and Lankerchey, along with religious scholars, community leaders, councillors and volunteers who arranged tents, community kitchens and other essential facilities for the rescue teams at Thanda Morh.
Special recognition was given to Mohd Hassan Hundoo, Master Nisar Ali, Mohd Marimpa of Bimbhat, Drass, Haji Yusuf, AEE Abdul Zaheer, the concerned Junior Engineer, and volunteers Hamza Sheikh from Doda, Manzoor from Pahalgam and their teams for their tireless humanitarian efforts during the search operation in the Drass River.
Sheikh Kazim further thanked the Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Senior Superintendent of Police Kargil, SHO Kargil, District Administration Kargil, Deputy Commissioner Drass and Superintendent of Police Drass for their continuous support and effective coordination throughout the rescue operation.
In his concluding remarks, Sheikh Mohammad Kazim Alam-ul-Huda paid rich tributes to the deceased and emphasized the Islamic values of Sabr (patience), unwavering faith and complete trust in Almighty Allah during times of grief and hardship.
The Majlis concluded with collective prayers seeking Allah’s mercy upon the departed souls, their highest place in Jannat-ul-Firdous, and strength and patience for the bereaved families to bear the immense loss.
