10th National Voters Day celebrated at Sankoo

SANKOO, Jan 25: As a parts of India the 10th National National Voters Day was celebrated at Sankoo sub division of Kargil union Territory of the on Saturday at Suru valley division ground here to educate new voters regarding the importance of exercising the franchise.
25th January National voters day “Electoral literacy for stronger democracy “Ink on your fingers is the best fashion. Theme for NVD 2020 is ‘Electoral Literacy for Stronger Democracy’. This was organized by District Election Officer Kargil.
The Day is held every year on January 25 to encourage youngsters, who have reached the age of 18, to participate in the electoral process.
On this occasion, various departments officer’s official from Block Sankoo sub division, included students and a large number’s of public from Sankoo were also present.
While addressing on the occasion Sub Divisional Megistrate Sankoo Sonam Dorjey said, that the main aim of celebrating the Day is that democracy should reach grass root level so that more and more people take part in the democratic process.
A demonstration on voter’s pledge ceremony to uphold the democratic traditions and dignity of the country through free, fair and peaceful elections was also carried out.
